Boulder attorneys will answer questions for Fourmile fire victims
(from the Daily Camera)
Lawyers from the Boulder County Bar Association will be available to help Four Mile Canyon fire victims who have lost their homes by answering questions about their properties and insurance claims.
The session is free and open to the public and will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Boulder County Justice Center in the "jury assembly room." The justice center is located at 1777 Sixth St.
Here are a few things experts say those who have lost their homes to the fire should think about, according to the association:
- Make a list of personal property.
- Do a room-by-room survey in your mind, writing down all items you can recall
- Try to remember the sources of your items (for example, stores, sales, friends and gifts
- Assign a value based on purchase price and determine replacement value
- Make a list of improvements on property, including additions, remodels and other changes to the home
- Try to remember all contractors, remodelers, finishers and other tradesmen who worked on the property
- Assign a value to each improvement including the complete nature of the improvement and approximation of square footage
- Contact a realtor for estimation of value including possible comparable properties that have recently sold.
